Richard Renouf – Trustee

I have extensive experience in the retail trade at senior management level for a multi-national retailer and I established what is now the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman.

Location: Near Cambridge, but I travel extensively.
Experience: I have worked in the retail trade for most of my career, including senior management roles for a multi-national retailer, and I also established what is now the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman.
Hobby: I’m crafty – I love creative work, whether it’s DIY, calligraphy, book-binding or anything in between.
Working Days: Volunteer work off site.

I have senior management experience in a multi-national retail business and run my own company specialising in helping to resolve furniture and flooring complaints and to prevent them happening in the first place. I’m an active member of Great Shelford Free Church, just south of Cambridge but most Sundays finds me as a visiting preacher in other churches of various denominations.

    Why did you get involved?

I love the ethos of Shared Space and responded to a search for someone with retail experience to help develop the opportunities the charity creates.

What do you do as a trustee?

Trustees have legal responsibilities to ensure the charity fulfils its objectives, so I ask a lot of questions, give my opinions and help to find solutions

    Impressions?

The impact that Shared Space has on its volunteers and on the communities it serves is incredible and it shows that there is more to ‘work’ than simply trying to make a profit

    Any hopes for the future?

More of the same, but even better as we develop and improve.
