Jenny Alexander – Store Manager

Jenny Alexander – Store Manager

Jenny has worked for many years in church organisations and volunteered in other charity shops; now she is combining the two sets of skills as a Store Manager with Shared Space.

Location: Normally at Shared Space, Southchurch
Hobby: Keeping fit including cold water swimming, and anything crafty.
Working Days: You will find Jenny at the store on various days each week.

This is an exciting role for me, and being able to work in my local area makes it all the more special.

    Why did you get involved?

I moved into the area and wanted to be able to put my skills to use in the local area.

What do you do as a Store Manager?

The job involves a mixture of working with people, both volunteers and customers, dealing with donations, and running a shop and all those kinds of logistics. There never needs to be a dull moment.

What is a hi-light of your role?

I love having the opportunity to engage with volunteers and customers, and know that as a shop, and individually we can make a difference to people. A friendly face and some interaction helps everyones’ day go just that little bit better.

Any hopes for the future for Shared Space?

It would be lovely to be able to help even more people, whether that’s by selling quality goods at reasonable prices, or by training volunteers with new skills which are transferable into everyday life situations, or being able to offer more Boost Fund grants to the many groups that work with the local community.

Jenny says, “Community is so important, and I’m so glad that that is a core value of Shared Space.”
