Location: Shared Space, Westcliff
Hobby: Travel, exploring new places and working with young people.
Working Days: You will find Alex at the store on most days
I got involved at the very very start of the first Shared Space all those years ago – helping to paint the walls and do it up. Now I live back in the area I want to get involved in my local community again so I was delighted to get this job.
Why did you get involved?
It’s important to me to give back to my local town.
What do you do as a Store Manager?
I love innovating and working to change the perception of charity shops for the good, whilst working alongside and supporting our volunteers.
What is a highlight of leading a Shared Space store?
Working with people of all backgrounds and seeing them develop in confidence.
Any hopes for the future for Shared Space?
To bring more young people in as volunteers, giving them a great experience and working with them alongside all our existing volunteers – so we can raise even more money to support good causes across Southend.
Alex says, “Everyone is welcome. Everyone can contribute.”
