Thanks to a team of 30+ hardworking volunteers Shared Space has opened it’s latest charity shop in Southchurch, Southend. Work includes a total refit and redecoration, display and storage, creation of a sorting room and preparing the store for opening. The teams of volunteers worked hard over 6 weeks to get the store ready for the launch event.
Already a large number of local people are coming forward to volunteer long-term in the shop, keen to make a difference in Southchurch, led by store manager, Helen Watts.
The launch event also celebrated that the shop will partner with nearby Belle Vue Baptist Church. The church cut short their Sunday service to walk en masse across the road to the newly opened store. This was an opportunity to mark and celebrate the new partnership between Shared Space Southchurch and the church. In the picture, members of Belle Vue Baptist Church, Southchurch, celebrate with the team of volunteers.
Inspired by the Christian values of Shared Space charity, the aim is to create life-changing volunteering opportunities and raise money for the local community. Each month, teams of volunteers from the Southchurch store will decide where to award grants to help fund projects in Southed and Southchurch.
Over the coming months the aim is to build a friendly team of 30 regular volunteers, establish the shop and start distributing grants of money to make a difference in Southend.
If you have goods to donate they will be accepted with open arms by the team of volunteers. Shared Space is delighted to be playing it’s part in Southend. And would love to hear from you. if you want to find out more or help then please drop in.
