Shared Space Southchurch celebrated its first birthday with a Fun Day on Saturday 30 September.

150 people came to celebrate the first year of the new shop and all the good things done to date. Over the first year volunteers have been helped back to work; many Boost Fund Grants were given to help good causes in Southend and Southchurch; a team of volunteers recruited; a growing partnership established with Belle Vue Baptist Church and overall a great start has been made.

Young and old came to enjoy the activities including candy floss, hot dogs, cream team, local magician Neil Keeble,  hook-the-duck, guess the name, face-painting, radio control boats, a bouncy castle, or a chance to buy clothes and bric-a-brac from Shared Space.

Receivers of a Boost Fund Grant, Southchurch Hall Inspirational Parkers (SHIP) also had a stall and organised a tombola.

Chair of trustees Peter Dominey said, “The shop has come along way in its first year and is making a positive contribution in the area. We are delighted with that and the partnership with Belle Vue Baptist Church. The volunteer team has done a brilliant job of getting the shop up and running and become a strong team of local people”.
