Make new friends
As part of our friendly family of volunteers you will get to meet people from all walks of life. It is a great way to be part of your local community and make friends. And the volunteer social events are always good fun.
Build your confidence
Does your confidence need a boost? We will be there to support and encourage you. And then to help you expand your horizons.
Share your skills
You already have skills that can make a real difference. Get in contact and tell us what you would like to offer.
Do something you enjoy
Our volunteers say they love what they do. They get real job satisfaction from working in a team that is doing good. Give us a visit and our volunteers can tell you.
Gain new skills
This is your opportunity to develop skills in things like team working, retail, volunteer management, customer service, administration, communication and resilience. And we can teach you about customer service, retail display, stock processing, health and safety, administration and specialist roles.
We may also be able to support you with life skills not directly related to the work.
Access to qualifications
We can provide the practical experience to go with the qualifications of local colleges. We have provided placements for people getting qualifications in customer service and retail, IT, graphic design, photography, and so on.
Live out your faith
Are you motivated by your faith? This can be a deepl motivation for some volunteers and others grow into a warm appreciation of the Christian faith underpinning Shared Space. We welcome people of all faiths and none.
Give something back
Even a small weekly commitment from you can make a real difference. We work with many people who are less fortunate in life. Your time, energy and compassion could make the difference for someone.
Develop your CV and get a reference
Employers love a CV full of practical experience and they are impressed by a good reference. We can help with that. Your volunteering experience can set you apart by demonstrating your enthusiasm, experiences and skills.
Keep active
Volunteering can be a great way to get fit. Whether you are working on the shop floor or sorting through stock, you will be on your feet and getting exercise.
